Getting ripped off by a seller
I always check reviews before I buy something this person started selling in December of 2025 had a 100% review status everything looked great! I bought the product and within 1 half hour I had a tracking # well that is all I receive and sent in several messages with no response from him. 1 week passes so I ask ebay for help. Well what do you know this morning I checked on the seller and a bad review popped up a from a buyer who got ripped off from this seller just 3 days before my purchase. Had I known that I wouldn't have bought from this seller. In other words a seller can turn sour in the blink of an eye!!

How many successful sales has that seller had since December? How many of those sales have resulted in positive feedback from actual buyers (not just automated feedback from eBay)? How many of those sales with positive feedback were for similarly-valued items?
One bad feedback may not necessarily be indicative of a scam, but it may warrant exercising caution, depending on what it says.
Likewise, plenty of scammers have 100% -- for buying, or for selling trinkets, before they start listing high-value vaporware.
The longer a seller has been selling similar items and has been getting actual positive feedback from users for those sales, the less likely the seller is to be a scammer. But even then, legitimate accounts can be hijacked and used for scams, so be careful with deals that are "too good to be true".
eBay has a good money back guarantee if the item is not received and if there is no tracking showing delivery, or if something arrives but is not as described.

OP5 months agoThe bad feedback is exactly the same thing that happened to me. The seller took the money and didn't send the item. And wouldn't answer any of the messages sent to him.

If there is no tracking showing delivery, it is easy to get your money back by filing an "item not received" case with eBay. If the seller cannot provide tracking that shows delivery within three business days, at that point you should be able to ask eBay to step in.
If you waited to long to file an "item not received" case, or if you did not ask eBay to step in within 21 business days, you may still have recourse through your payment method.
