Getting Paid at the End of the Auction

I have bought and sold on eBay since 1996. However, I have not done so in the last few years, so everything is new for me as a seller. I sold an item today and this is the message I received from eBay: "Congratulations on your sale! Your buyer, (name deleted) is still shopping. To give them time to shop, we’ll process their payment on Apr 06, 2026, unless they checkout early." I am totally confused! I have to wait until after April 6 (today is March 30) before I can receive my money for the item...

If you have not sold for several years you need to know that eBay now uses the Managed Payments System for making payouts to sellers. You must verify a checking account with eBay in order to receive your payout. Payouts can no longer be made to a PayPal account.

Ebay now allows some buyers up to 7 days to pay, specifically when sellers use the "Require buyers to provided a payment method before they place a bid" feature combined with allowing combined shipping. This 7-day window enables buyers to bundle multiple items from one seller. You can opt out by changing your buyer requirements by turning off the "require buyers to provide a payment method" option, which reverts the payment deadline back to standard policy (usually 4 days).
