getting a refund for state sales tax
I purchased clothing from a seller in CA, we don't pay sales tax on clothing in NJ, I couldn't check out without paying the tax, so I did ($18). Went back to each listing and found the reason eBay charged me tax was the seller had the items listed in a different category than Clothing & Accessories. I managed to get a live person from eBay, she reviewed everything and said the tax would be refunded. A month later, no refund to my paypal account or my credit card, now I'm having trouble getting a live agent. Any other way to resolve this issue?

Mentor4 months agoTo be tax exempt for clothing purchased and shipped to NJ, the item has to be listed in the Clothing/Shoes/Accessories category. If you purchased a clothing item in a Sporting Goods category, for example, you would be charged sales tax. This comes up often with buyers residing in PA.
