getting a canceled item back
I recently sold an item and sent it out for shipment however I had to cancel the order after it was sent out how do I go about getting my item back? the post office was no help

Once you ship something you should NOT cancel the transaction because if the package is delivered the Buyer is NOT going to pay you back. If you shipped USPS the current package intercept service costs around $ 18.00.
I just checked your Sold items and there is nothing on this account that has sold recently, your last sale was March 10th ... is THAT the item you are talking about?
So what exactly do you mean by "... sent it out for shipment..."???? Did YOU pack it up and ship it or did you do something else?
Something does not sound right ...

OP5 months agoI packed it up took it to the post office and they were supposed to send it but a few days later I noticed they never scanned it so I went there and they assured me that it was sent out but I never got a tracking number so I cancelled it and went back to the post office again a few days later to retrieve my item assuming they made a mistake and still had it there but again they just told me they sent it out but never gave tracking and to wait at least a week to see if it turned up. I cancelled because ebay was saying I was overdue to ship and I did not want a fee or whatever happens so I just cancelled. I've tried going to the post office again since and they tell me without a tracking number they can not do anything even though they never made one. I definitely messed something up and just want to know if there is any way to get the item back. I offered the buyer a chance to rebuy the item with a discount for the inconvenience however they never responded to me. at this point I just need the item back and I want to know if ebay would be able to help since the post office will not. I believe the post office may have sent it and somehow without ever processing it since they told me they do not have it and it was sent. I only cancelled because before driving to the post office I assumed they would have it there and I could just resend it that day if the buyer rebought it with the discount I offered.

Mentor5 months agoShipping carriers have a way to recall a package but this costs a fee and is not guaranteed to actually recover the package and you do not get the fee back if they cannot get the package. For the USPS you would need to "intercept" the package and would probably need to do this on the website and not at the retail counter.

OP5 months agoUnfortunately the post office never gave me a tracking number and eBay says it was never even scanned that is the main issue because of that the post office is telling me that there is nothing they can do
