Get a refund without returning a damaged item
Is there a way to get a refund from an item I bought that arrived damaged without returning it? Possibly damaged in the mail. It’s a small electronic item that one part broke off. I asked the seller about a refund and they said they can refund the money without returning it because they can’t resell it. But I don’t see that option anywhere on this app. The seller said to open a case with eBay but I don’t see that option either. I only see the return for refund option. Or do I have to ask the USPS if they accidentally damaged my item and they will take care of it? Thanks

Mentor3 years agoOpen a return request. The seller can then choose to refund without return.
Go to your purchase history - select return this item. Under reason for return, select does not match the description, and follow the prompts.
The seller has 3 business days to send you a return label or a refund. If he doesn't, or says he can not send a label, go to your case and click 'ask us to step in'.
USPS will not reimburse anyone for damage unless it was insured. If insured, it is the seller's responsibility to file the claim.
