Generator caught on fire and seller is no longer registered with ebay.

Question

I bought a generator from an ebay seller and it arrived on January 8th 2023. Today while using it. it caught on fire and is ruined. The seller is no longer registered with ebay. How can I get a refund?

Your 30 day eBay Money Back Guarantee expired 30 days after receipt. If you did not purchase an Allstate warranty at checkout, there may be no recourse.

It sounds like you might have purchased one of those cheap knockoffs from China. The European Union has already begun cracking down on the substandard items with fake UL and CE certifications, and I suspect the same will eventually roll out in the US. Unfortunately, that does not address your issue. If you paid with a credit card, you may be able to start a chargeback there.
