General question
Would there be some sort of way that eBay could make a subscription plan where buyers could pay monthly n get free shipping on all orders and eBay would pay the seller shipping costs
I love to buy on eBay because I’m a small toy collector and I can buy exactly what I want but I find myself not wanting to buy items because with shipping cost included often it pushes cost of item higher than value and I buy often (daily)

Mentor2 years agoeBay would lose money unless the income to eBay from all the subscriptions was higher than the cost of all the shipping services eBay had to pay for. In order for that to work, eBay would have to price the subscription very high, and the only buyers that would subscribe to such an expensive service would be those that intend to use more shipping than the cost of the subscription -- which in turn would result in eBay losing money.
Such a model may work for Amazon since Amazon is shipping items from Amazon warehouses, and Amazon can use economies of scale to cut Amazon's own shipping costs. That does not work for eBay where individual sellers are distributed everywhere and most sellers must purchase retail shipping services at or near full price regardless of who pays for it.
