FYI… Apparently you can now sell expired supplements on ebay.
Summary: g00dies4saleonline reported a listing on eBay for selling expired supplements, but despite multiple reports, eBay's replies indicated no policy violation. comics-scifi-collectibles confirmed that selling expired items is against eBay policy and noted difficulties in removing such listings with AI. The listing has since been removed. eburtonlab speculated that the issue might be due to outdated descriptions and advised checking with sellers for clarity, noting that expired items are eligible for returns at the seller's expense.
So there’s a seller with the following listing:
167028092186 NOW Foods - Spirulina, super green (500mg, 500 Tablets) -2PK-
Straight up put in their listing (in a red font no less) that the supplements expired February of 2024.
So I reported it to ebay, and they replied: We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy.
So I reported it a second time and even added screenshots of their policy which states expired vitamins and supplements aren’t allowed, as well as a screenshot of the listing where it clearly says the bottles expired in 2024. Again, the replied that they didn’t find the listing to be in violation of policy.
So, apparently they have changed their policy on vitamins and supplements, and you can now sell your expired supplies.

Hard to say just by looking at the listing. The seller has received positive feedback for selling that item from over a year ago -- possibly much longer ago than that.
If you are not sure, or if the seller will not clarify, find another seller to purchase from.
Buyers that receive expired items can return them for a full refund at the seller's expense, regardless of the description.
What people are allowed to do and what they may try to get away with can be two different things. What it looks like someone is doing and what they are actually doing may be two different things as well.

OP3 weeks agoI’d like some clarification on this if possible. If they changed the policy, that can totally change a sourcing strategy.

The AI is horrible at removing listings that violate policy.Strike that.... I see that it has been removed.
