Full refund and keeping item
Wondering if a seller is telling the truth. Scenario is that I received an item that was damaged rather than new as advertised. I submitted for a return and provided poor feedback regarding seller. They then asked me to revise my feedback if they gave me a full refund and allowed me to keep item. Now they are saying I need to “cancel†the return request in order for them to refund me. Is the is true? Seems fishy and don’t want to be stuck without eBay’s assistance if I do cancel the return. Thank you

First, ebay encourages "Trading partners" (eBay's term for a Buyer and Seller on a transaction) to work things out BEFORE taking action like leaving negative Feedback. All you did was create an adversarial situation between you and the Seller and whether or not the issue was intentional or not you made it hard to get things resolved.
You file the return using the reason Arrived damaged or Does not match pictures or description. You get a pre paid shipping label and you then return the item ... the Seller has 2 days to refund you once they have the item back. If they don't you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in to force the refund.
You do NOT have to message the Seller during that process ... do NOT cancel the return because then you have no way to get your money back.
So, by processing the return properly and getting your refund you can then decide to leave FB or not ... keep in mind that everyone can see the FB you leave for others so what yu do is also a reflection on you ...

Mentor3 years agoOnce the buyer files a Returns Request, the seller has 2 options. Seller accept the return, which then sends the buyer a prepaid return shipping label. Buyer prints the label and affixes it to the package and sends it back. Once tracking shows DELIVERED back to the seller, the seller has 2 days to refund the buyer. Or, the seller can simply refund the buyer and not require that the buyer return the item.
If you cancel/close the return, the seller will not be able to refund you through ebay. You have 60 days to leave feedback, which is the very last thing you do. Once a buyer leaves less than positive feedback, the seller has no incentive to do the "right" thing.
