Freight Shipment
I have a pallet I would like to sell and ship via freight. I have never done this before and would appreciate any advice, information, tips, etc.

Mentor10 months ago@dinkette231 My advice is list as Local Pick Up Only.
Put in the description that the buyer can arrange their own freight pick up. Get the code from the buyer before the freight company picks up the item.

This way you are not responsible for items that are lost, damaged, late arriving etc. When the buyer uses a 3rd party shipping company it also voids the eBay Money Back Guarantee so you don't have to worry about paying high return shipping costs.

OP10 months agoThank you for the response and information; I appreciate it. I have a couple of follow up questions.
1. It its local pick up and they are going to arrange shipping, can I still require payment upon purchase?
2. I had already done some freight shipping quotes and found that if the pallet is taken to the freight company it is way cheaper. Could this be problematic or an issue?

1. Yes the buyer pays before pickup. This is how they receive a code that you use to prove delivery. Do NOT release an item to a shipper or buyer without the code. If the buyer says they can't find it then advise them to go on a computer and check the order details as it can be located there.
2. Yes shipping on a pallet may cost a bit less however it can provide challenges with unloading, fork lift or dock may be needed.
Most importantly No Returns does NOT mean no refunds. Your return policy is for buyers remorse returns only... changed mind, found better price, doesn't fit.. etc.
So if you arrange the freight and the buyer SAYS it's somehow not as described YOU have to pay that VERY expensive return freight and refund the buyer 100% or refund without a return.
When a buyer uses a Freight Forwarding company it voids the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
and you would not be required to issue a refund.

I have been selling for about 20 years and would not use Freight Shipping that I arranged myself.
