Free shipping and shipping times
On an ebay help page it says "If you see a free shipping message in a listing, you can expect to receive your item within 4 business days and you won't be charged for delivery. You'll see free 1, 2, 3, or 4 day shipping in the listing, as well as the date you can expect to get your order by. ", but "you can expect to receive your item within 4 business days" is not true, or at least it is extremely unlikely to be true.
When I see free shipping in a listing, which is very common, it almost always also says that shipping will take from a week to 10 or more days, or even longer, especially when the item is shipped from China. The sellers also often say, in the shipping details, that they may take three or more days to even ship the item, even though the item was paid for immediately with a debit card. I have never received an item within 4 days after using Buy It Now and paying with a debit card. I live in Washington state.

I offer free shipping and have a three-day handling time. I have never seen the shipping messages you are referring to.
The main thing to go by is the estimated delivery date in the Order Details for each transaction.
