    Hi,

     What is the deal? Out of the last 5 items that I have received from ebay orders, 3 have been Postage Due.

    Is this the new way with ebay? List it as Free Shipping and then send it in a bubble wrap bag that is bigger then an envelope with letter postage on it. When it arrives the buyer will not know what it is or who it is from until the postage due is paid, then it is to late, you can't refuse the package. So that 2 dollar item that you bought, you just paid 5 dollars postage due.

    Can you guess how mad I am?

    @987kayak You have already received some good advice from my fellow Mentors....

     What type of items are you having this problem with?  Since this is normally a rare occurrence for USPS Ground Advantage and Priority I am guessing these are eBay Standard Envelope Shipments.

    If the seller doesn't package correctly then they will be delivered postage due.    Bubble envelope would not be allowed for eBay Standard Envelope since it's metered mail.

    If these are eBay Standard Envelope shipments for items under $20 in select categories then I recommend sharing this link with your sellers>

    @987kayak

    When a Buyer is notified that their purchase from an eBay Seller has arrived with postage due, the Buyer has options.

    You can let the post office know you want to refuse the package. Taking a photo of the package marked "postage due" will help. Refusing a postage due package is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

    If you refuse the package you can then open an Item Not Received refund request. The Seller will need to refund in full.

    Or. You can contact the Seller to have them send you the postage due via PayPal or Venmo.

    Guessing is not necessary:  everybody can see how mad/angry you are, and anybody else would be just as angry in that situation.

    No, what you described is not a "new way with eBay."
    That error is made by sellers.  eBay does not suggest that kind of mistake or dishonesty.
    There are millions of eBay sellers, and in any group of thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions, there will be some who either don't understand and make uninformed errors when they enter a package's weight and dimensions.  However, there are others who know exactly what they're doing when they pull that kind of dishonest stunt.

    On $5.00 postage due, that seller probably saved a whopping 66 cents in selling fees he would have had to pay to eBay if he'd estimated and quoted the correct postage.  He's also missing out on $5.00 that he could have deducted from his taxable income when he does his tax returns early next year.

    Unfortunately, as a buyer, you will not always know whether you are buying from an honest seller or a trickster.  Reading the seller's feedback could be helpful.

    Which leads to a suggested next step for you:  buyers are allowed to leave neutral and/or negative feedback for sellers.  Your feedback comments can include several sentences, not just a few dozens of characters.  Just be direct and honest in your feedback.
