free returns
I'm new to the concept of free returns and I want to know if anyone specifies in the item description that returns are only accepted for unopened items, particularly for high-end toys or any other items.

If you accept returns, you accept all returns - you can not make it conditional.
If you don’t want to accept all returns, you can sell with no returns -then only items not as described or damaged can be returned. Keep in mind that if the buyer says not as described, eBay expects you to accept the return, as they will pretty much always side with the buyer.
If you offer free returns, you can issue less than a full refund if the item is returned in a condition different than sent, but it is based on strict guidelines. A package being opened allows a 5% - 10% deduction. See the guidelines here -
