Fraudulent tracking numbers
What kind of protection against fraudulent tracking numbers does eBay have? I have not had a problem with eBay yet, but I'm about to order something that comes via Speedpak and I'm not familiar with their tracking info. For my example, I've fought this once before and won, but struggling with one in the last 30 days. I purchased something from a reputable big online retailer. They allow storefronts for private parties. The private party provided me a UPS tracking number after delaying shipment for nearly a month. I never received the package. The short story is, they used a fake tracking number, one with a zip code that matches my city. So the Online retailer sees the package as 'delivered' even though it is for a different person and physical address. You can't get that info from UPS tracking, but Chat help shows the package was from a different online retailer.
So if I order something coming overseas via Speedpak, and it never arrives, what does tracking look like in eBay. Will they be able to see it is (or isn't) my name and address matching the order?

Mentor9 months ago@howiez69 What you are referring to is a false tracking scam and can be very difficult to win the case. Most buyers end up doing a credit card charge back. If you run into this problem come back here for help BEFORE filing a not received refund request case.
Speedpak generally is an OK shipping method. USPS handles the last leg of the shipment but the tracking number does not change. The one good thing about SpeedPAK is that tariffs are prepaid. Only sellers from Japan and China can use SpeedPAK. So expect to pay tariffs for shipments from all other countries
Things to look for when deciding if the seller is reliable, this goes for domestic sellers too:
The item is a common item that can be purchased from another retail site and the seller is using a stock photo.
The sellers feedback profile country doesn't match the location the item is shipping from.
The seller is new and selling high priced items at prices too good to be true.
Always check the feedback page, not just the %. A seller can have 99% positive if they are a high volume seller with thousands of negatives.
