fraudulent sellers
I connected with a person selling an item on Facebook, they directed me to EBAY MOTORS. I gave her my number name and address and then I received and email from Ebay Motors with and invoice number and Ebay telephone number to call and arrange payment. Can anyone tell me if the number is real. 701-404-7630. can anyone advise if this sounds normal / authentic

This is a known scam that has been going on for a long time now.
They always have this great deal on a vehicle or equipment and a sob story to go with it. They want you to pay in gift cards and tell you that eBay will protect them via eBay motors.
It's all a lie. Do not buy gift cards or give them card codes. That money is gone the moment they get it. And you will have no way to get it back.
Always ALWAYS have the option to pay in person, after you have inspected the vehicle. NOT BEFORE.

OP2 years agothe two were not connected. I just connected with her via messenger and then she said go to the Ebay page to make the purchase. I wish I could upload an image of the email I received from EBAY.

Okay.
Did the e-mail explain how to pay? And just because an e-mail looks like it came from eBay, doesn't mean it did. I get tons of spoofed e-mails from all kinds of companies that are completely bogus all the time.
But this one of the ways the scam operates. Hence my response. They get a bite on Facebook (marketplace or messenger) then you get an e-mail that looks legit. And then the payment method leads to something sketchy, often its gift cards.

The email was not from eBay. Any link you received from a third party does not lead to eBay.
It is a scam.
The only way to purchase on eBay is to go to ebay.com and find the listing there.
Scammers will send a fake link that looks like eBay but is not to get you to give up your credentials or financial info, or will ask you for gift cards.
