Fraudulent Seller
Looking for advise from the community on how to address my issue. The background:
- I bought an item off eBay and paid for it.
- The seller has not responded to any messages
- The package has not been delivered
- I raised a case for non delivery
- The seller than added tracking confirmation to the listing, that showed delivery to the same zip code
- I contacted USPS who confirmed the package was addressed to a totally different address and name within the my zip code
- eBay denied my claim saying there was proof of delivery and referenced a link to the tracking number that only confirms delivery to my zip not my actual address
- I appealed the case which was denied as eBay said there is a tracking number confirming delivery to the zip code (not address)
- I finally called eBay and got to a leader in the 'Global Buyer Experience Department'. He told me and I quote, I know the package was not delivered to you, but because the tracking confirmation confirms it was delivered to the same zip code as your address, I cannot help you by policy and also our systems don't give me a 'button to click' to refund your money because my zip code and that on the tracking confirmation match, even though they are different addresses, so there is no refund button he can click
- I asked this leader in the 'Global Buyer Experience Department' to escalate it, and he said he cannot do that, that he is the highest level I can speak to, and that he cannot help me because the system doesn't allow him to. He flatly refused to escalate it and provide me anyone else to speak to
- So net net, eBay agree I didn't get my package (the seller is a fraud / scammer), but they cannot help me because their system doesn't give them a button to refund me because zip codes between my address and the tracking confirmation match.
- I will not start on what a terrible customer experience this is, and the fact that eBay's policies and systems are supporting a fraud/scam on their platform, what I would like to hear from the community is if others have experienced this and how were they able to resolve it with eBay?

Mentor9 months agoI HAVE experienced this, and was able to get written documentation from my local post office that the item matching the tracking number was NOT addressed to me, therefore the package was delivered elsewhere. I was able to provide the written documentation to Ebay which issued me a refund.

OP9 months agoWould love to know who you contacted, they closed my case, rejected my appeal and refuse to refund despite USPS saying it was addressed elsewhere. I was told by the lead of buying customer experience the system doesn’t allow a refund once they close an appeal and the zips match. He flat out refused to correct it (said there is no button to refund in the system once appeal closed) even though they he agreed it wasn’t delivered to me and said there was no one else he could escalate to. Worst customer experience I have ever encountered. So I need someone I can call, working through their platform just routes me to appeal closed and a person who says they are unable to help.

Mentor9 months agoI appealed the decision and Ebay sided with me, therefore issuing the refund.
In your case, unfortunately the appeal was denied and you cannot re-appeal. So sorry.
You might try this if you have written documentation from USPS of the fake tracking scam:
You can contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.
