Fraudulent sale prompts me to contact Ebay to trace the financial transaction, but AI will not allow
Is it hubris? Or just too insignificant to matter?
someone took 860.00 for a product sale;
no one responds to requests for update on the shipment;
I finally get a response from the user account holder, who indicates they have nothing for sale on Ebay;
you'd think someone would want to know where TH the money went.
How TH do we get in contact with Ebay if a GD AI has been put in charge of running perpetual interference?

I am sorry this happened.
eBay's Money Back Guarantee should apply: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/-/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210
Here is how to formally request a refund of your full payment:
1) Look at your purchase history here: https://www.ebay.com/mye/myebay/purchase
- View Order Details
- Check the Estimated Delivery Date for your purchase, and
- Check the tracking for your purchase
When it is past the estimated delivery date (and there is no tracking, or the tracking doesn’t show that is close to delivery):
2) Open an "Item Not Received Case". You can do that right here by clicking on the photo of your item and following the steps: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/-/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
(If it is not yet time for a case to be opened, it will give you the exact date after you click the photo.)
You will be able to select whether you want the Item or a Refund
-- You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case)
3) You can check the status of your case here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/ip?topicId=4667
The seller must respond within 3 business days to provide a delivery update, offer a replacement, or give you a refund. If the seller doesn't respond after 72 hours, ask eBay to Step In to get your refund.

OP6 months agoThanks for responding. And that is the procedure I am currently waiting to have mature, the 72 hours part passes EOD today, presumably.
I just find it a little odd there is not any way to contact an actual agent to report a fraudulent transaction in a timely manner. The seller is, technically, attempting to claim someone other than himself had posted an item for sale on an Ebay seller site with his credentials, and I know sometimes [speed of response] to such an occasion is the only way of recovering losses that may also lead to prosecution of whom is perpetrating the offense.
Since Ebay is, legally, who is guaranteeing I will be returned my money, I thought they would be more interested than I am currently experiencing. Very strange... but I guess $860 means a lot more to me than it does to global corporations. I am literally freaking out over here.

The owner of the account should be reporting it for fraud/hacked. If they come here, we'll have advice for them, too.
You'll get your refund by following the process. I know it's frustrating, but the system does work, and eBay will take the $860 back from the fake seller. Your money is most likely on hold and not in the fake seller's bank account.
You can use eBay's social media customer service to get assistance, but it won't speed up the process.

Just sent a private message to the page explaining what happened.
I am really sorry this happened. I would be freaking out too, actually, but the process works.

OP6 months agoThanks for your help and support. Once I was able to ask Ebay to step in and help, the refund to my account occurred the same day.
What a nightmare, but gladly it is over. Thanks again, it is reassuring to have a rep on staff who can respond to people's inquiries.
