Fraudulent Coin
I ordered a coin on eBay and then sent it in to Numastic Society (paid $75) to verify the coin. They do take a while though, so my time to return the item on eBay expired. The Numastic place confirmed it is a fraudulent coin. Now I am out what I paid and the $75 fee and eBay will not respond and they don’t have a way to go after the now disappeared seller. By the way, the seller had 100% positive feedback. My question is, WHY WOULD ANYONE EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING ON EBAY IF THIS IS THEIR POLICY?

How long had the seller been selling coins? How many transactions were for similar items, going back how far?
A 100% feedback for buying, or for selling in other categories does not tell you much about a seller's reliability or judgement regarding coins.
eBay has a good money back guarantee if you use it within thirty days. If you cannot authenticate an item within thirty days, perhaps find some other way to verify that it is authentic short of paying to send it somewhere, or else stick to only buying from sellers you know you can trust.
You may still have recourse through your payment method; many credit cards offer up to six months of protection for items that are not as described.
