Fraud
I ordered a rare discontinued Maileg item based on the pictures and item description. I paid what this rare discontinued item should cost. However, I received a non-rare current Maileg item that doesn’t even compare. I can buy this now for 1/4 of the price for the rare item. It doesn’t look like the advertised picture at all.
I was told to contact the seller before giving feedback. First of all, I want what I paid for and what was advertised. Obviously, I’ll return what the seller sent me. If the seller won’t send me what I purchased, then I want a full refund and I’ll return the fraudulent item to the seller.
Do I wait for a response from the seller before giving feedback ? If so, what is the customary wait time? I’ve sent 3 messages already.
This has never before happened to me buying through Ebay. Thanks

Mentor2 years agoBefore you leave feedback, you should take advantage of eBay's money back guarantee to get your money back. Getting your money back is often preferable to asking for the seller to ship another item, as an unscrupulous seller can drag out the process long enough for the deadline to pass, and also if the seller was unable to ship the correct item the first time, the seller may not be able to provide the correct item the second time, either.
When an item is "not as described", the buyer can file a "not as described" case with eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/return-item-refund?id=4041&st=7&po=2&uci=0&ri=0
The seller is then required to provide a prepaid return label or pay for shipping. Return the item at the seller's expense, and the seller should refund you within three business days of receiving the returned item. If the seller does not cooperate, ask eBay to step in at the earliest opportunity.
If you have questions or get stuck, post a follow-up here with details.
Once you have gotten your refund and you are done with the seller, then you can post your feedback. Calm and factual feedback is best. Do not mention any eBay case outcome.
