Found defect after listing and purchase
I listed a large item, $77 shipping, it sold and as I was packing it up I noticed a flaw that could potentially cause the buyer to either not want it or get it at a discounted price. I'm not sure if I did it while packaging it or if it was already like that, but regardless I immediately contacted the buyer and informed them in detail about the issue. Then nothing. Not a word back from them. It's been over a week and I'm in limbo as to what I should do, ship it as is or wait for a response? Or is there some other avenue?

Mentor2 years agoNormally I would not suggest trying to contact the buyer outside of eBay, but since it is holiday time and people are buying gifts, I think it would be worthwhile to try to call him. You have his phone # in the order details.
I would call or text and explain that you have been trying to reach him. If he is ok with talking on the phone, great. If he is hesitant, as lots of people would assume it was a scam, ask him to read his eBay messages and please respond. If you have to leave a message, or text and don’t receive a reply, let him know that you will cancel and refund if you don’t hear from him by tomorrow.
If you need to cancel, you will have to select I am out of stock, which will give you a defect for a seller cancelled transaction. Still, probably better than wasting $150 on shipping if he does not want it. One defect will not hurt you, but you don’t want to get more.
