Found an item of mine that was stolen for sale
I found an item that was stolen from me years ago being sold on Ebay. It even has my name on the item and my info on the sales info as well by the seller. I contacted local police under Ebays suggestion. Filed a report, can even prove its mine with info. But I'm also afraid that the seller gets wind of this and pulls the item and it vanishes. Not sure what to do now since ebay literally has no means of chatting with an associate via text or phone and its very frustrating. What to do?

OP2 years agoSadly no, the item was lifted at a event and is a book that was very personal to me. I thought somebody else had accidentally taken it home and would have contacted me since all my information was written on the inside. The seller even shows a photo of that. How many people are going to file a stolen item police report on a journal at the time?

Then it is your word against the Seller's and I suspect the Police will figure that out too, suggest you take the advice that @dryophelia has given, buy it back.

Why don’t you buy it?
Once the listing ends, you will lose the connection to this item.

OP2 years agoSeller wants way too much money for it.

-So, based on your conversations with the Police what are they going to do? If whatever you are doing with them does not involve them showing up at the Seller's home with a search warrant you can probably forget about ever getting the item back.
-When it was originally stolen did you file a police report?
Did you use your home owners or renters insurance to file an insurance claim?
