@diy_36 That sounds like a dimensional weight surcharge. You can try disputing the charge with Fed Ex.
Only eBay customer service can file the dispute since they are the Fed Ex customer. I recommend contacting CS on social media to ask them to do this.
Keep in mind that Fed Ex does sometimes add incorrect surcharges but there are CORRECT surcharges that you can read about on the Fed Ex website.
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from Pirateship. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
Social media is the best way to contact customer service for this issue.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service. ( I feel that it's ok to use this option since it does affect your bottom line.)
It sounds like Fed Ex is charging you for underpaid shipping. What was the weight and the dimensions of the package? What was the seller's zip code and the buyer's zip code? Any package greater than 1728 cubic inches is going to cost more to ship.
