I have a car listed in an auction. It ends tomorrow and the minimum has been met. What happens next?

·3 years agoOne of the biggest complaints I see is that the buyer or seller fails to respond to messaging after the sale, so one party is left hanging without instructions. Immediately send a message to the buyer to ask if they are planning to pick up the car or have it shipped. When they respond, share your email or phone number if you wish. Vehicle listings also allow sharing your phone number directly in the listing.
The listing doesn't require a deposit, but does require full payment in 7 days. That means the buyer should come and get the car within that time and bring cash. You should have the title and bill of sale ready to sign and hand over. If the buyer doesn't like what they see, they can walk away, as the sale is not binding.
If the buyer wants the car shipped, the buyer makes the arrangements and pays the shipper. Arranging a shipper can take 2-3 weeks. You, the seller, should make the car accessible to a car carrier, so might need to move it to an area where it can be easily loaded (like an empty parking lot at night).
If the buyer doesn't come in person, they can mail a cashier check that you should verify with your bank. In fact, the price is low enough that you might want to accept PayPal or similar online payment where seller protections are limited. (I did this with one car sale because the buyer and I had communicated extensively prior to purchase, so I had a feel for the buyer.) After the check successfully clears your bank, mail the title, bill of sale, and the second set of keys via overnight envelope to the buyer. Keep the other key on hand for the shipper.
Of course, be available to work with the buyer to coordinate next steps.
If you don't hear back from the buyer within your 7 day payment period, just assume the buyer has abandoned the purchase. As mentioned, the sale is not binding and either party can walk away for any reason.

Mentor3 years agoWhen the auction ends, you make contact with the buyer for a time & place to have the vehicle inspected and payment in exchange for the title and keys.

·3 years agoThat listing doesn't have a minimum price other than the starting bid. But vehicle sales in eBay motors are non-binding ether party can walk away.
