First eBay Sale – Weird Messaging from Multiple Users Immediately After Sale
I just made my first sale on eBay, and honestly, I'm a bit creeped out by what happened right after. Within minutes of the sale going through, I started getting strange messages from multiple users - all of whom appear to have registered addresses in China, including the buyer. I was also charged an international transaction fee despite shipping domestically in the US.
The whole thing feels off, and I'm not sure if I'm being scammed or overthinking it. Here's what happened:
Timeline of events:
1. User 1 (the buyer) messaged me at the exact time of the sale asking for a discount if I remove one of the accessories included in the listing. I replied that the accessory is part of the complete product and not sold separately.
2. Shortly after, User 2 messaged saying they had entered the wrong shipping address and asked me to cancel the order so they could reorder. I responded that the item was already sold to someone else.
3. Then User 3 messaged me asking if User 1 was the buyer (how they knew User 1's username is beyond me I hadn't mentioned it anywhere).
4. Moments later, both User 2 and User 3 messaged me again offering the same higher amount to purchase the item, despite it already being sold.
5. I told both that the item was sold.
6. User 3 messaged again, insisting I confirm whether User 1 is the buyer and warned me that User 1 is a scammer.
At this point, I'm feeling uneasy about proceeding. All 3 users seem to be controlled by the same person and have several hundred records of positive feedback. The messages came in rapidly and seem coordinated. I've never dealt with anything like this before. The funds are on hold until I ship the item and delivery is confirmed - but I'm worried about possible scams, chargebacks, or some new scheme I should not be a part of. It seems the main goal is to just get me to cancel the order as the seller by using alt accounts other than the buyer account, but I don't see the immediate benefit to them here beyond sending negative feedback.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Should I be concerned about shipping this item to User 1?
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated.
