first class shipping
Summary: dly5 expressed frustration with eBay's shipping options, noting that although first class shipping was accepted by buyers for two dress patterns they sold, eBay did not allow them to purchase this option. They had to use the USPS website, which lacks tracking for first class shipping. lisa5768 clarified that while eBay allows the selection of USPS First Class Envelopes, purchasing the postage through eBay is not possible and must be done at a post office.
I listed two dress patterns for sale. I was able to offer first class shipping as an option which the buyers accepted. Both patterns sold yet ebay would not allow me to ship them through their website. The cheapest option was ground which was twice the cost. The envelopes were well within the guidelines for first class shipping. I had to go through the USPS website which unfortunately does not provide tracking for first class shipping. Did I do something wrong or is this another time when ebay makes it so difficult for the sellers?

Mentor2 weeks agoFirst Class mail does not have tracking so eBay does not let you purchase the label through eBay. eBay requires you to have tracking information to have any seller protection and to know if you shipped within your stated handling time.

eBay allows you to choose USPS First Class Envelopes as a shipping option on your listings however, you can not purchase shipping for First Class letters and flats (AKA Large envelopes ) on eBay, all first class postage must be purchased at a post office location.
