Financial dispute
I have a buyer who bought several sterling spoons. The buyer used a rimmed small pan scale to check my weights. Obviously the larger spoons did not weigh the same as my platform scale. But of course I offered s return on the 3 out of several purchased. No returns. Then I get a notice from eBay that the buyer had the financial institution put a hold on the entire order close to $900. Here I sit with no spoons returned and a hold on all the money. eBay has all the info. What will happen?

OP5 months agoPositive feedback was even given to me about most of the spoons. Go figure?

I read your posts and the other replies ...
-Does the Buyer have a high Feedback count?
-Have you reviewed their Feedback history to see if other Sellers have made any comments about them doing this to them?
-An experienced Buyer can scam the system.
-You mentioned "No returns" ... you should consider offering them in the future. That policy sends the wrong message to both Sellers and Buyers. Some Sellers think they are immune from returns and Buyers may think they have NO recourse other than pursuing a dispute with their funding source if they don't know how the eBay Money Back Guarantee protects them. Just imagine the dispute process when the financial institute is told that the Seller does not accept returns??? If you accepted returns eBay could fight for you in that regard but if you lose the dispute then you will be charged an additional $ 20 by eBay.
Become familiar with eBay Seller Protections, they can help cut a loss on a bogus return: Seller protections | eBay

When a Buyer opens a chargeback with their financial institution, they lose all Buyer Protections from eBay. You should have received an email from eBay telling you if you need to dispute the chargeback or if there's nothing you need to do because you're protected by eBay. So be sure to follow whatever instructions are in that email.
eBay should also have mentioned that these chargebacks take time to resolve. I've only had a few and eBay told me it would take eight weeks and it did.
Keep in mind that it is the Buyer's financial institution that makes the final decision, not eBay.
I'm sorry you have to go through this. It's so stressful. But please follow the directions in eBay's email.

OP5 months agoThank you. I tried to respond as best I could. I am scared the individual is going to get away with the Sterling spoons and the money.
