filing a case
Summary: meltwohorse shared a frustrating experience with filing a case related to shipping charges. They were charged $9.91 for a label while only receiving $4.78 from the buyer, resulting in a shortfall. i sell this doll pattern for little over $6.00. i ship it in a padded envelope @3 oz. they charge the buyer $4.78 not enough. i get charged $9.91 for label. i ended up owing.42c i file a case. a 'postal' case. somehow the postal was too light while my charge was too little & i jst sent off a box nearly 2 # for $5. somehow, they switched the case no with an item i bought earlier, a stuffed pig. i bought from a different seller, & saying he never delivered the package. OMG they even e mailed me they were renaming it to non- delivery. how the hell do they get from pattern to another seller & a case against him. finally took three hours to get settled. i mean to file a case you have the item in front of you, the picture of the article,pattern the reason etc & they come up with another seller, another item. try to argue or figure how to get that resolved in less than three hours.

For your pattern that the buyer paid $4.78 for priority mail shipping,
- The amount the buyer pays for shipping could be more or less than the actual final shipping cost, it is based on the settings chosen in your listing when you created it.
- The amount you pay for shipping is based on the actual final shipping details you enter before you click to print a label.
Be sure to always enter the correct weight and dimensions when you list your item, and use Calculated Shipping. (You should never need to type a price, that means you are using a fixed price shipping.)
The pattern listing had a fixed price shipping of 4.78 anywhere in the USA, and had Priority, rather than Ground Advantage
But, USPS charges by weight AND destination.
Use calculated shipping instead of a fixed price shipping, because USPS rates are volatile now, and don't follow some logical rules.

USPS now offers some discounts for packages that are 2.1 lbs to 5 lbs and yes, sometimes it's cheaper to ship a 3 lb box than a 12 oz padded envelope right now.
That's USPS rates.
