Fees for ending a listing early

Question

I had a significant mistake in an auction listing description that I didnâ€™t catch until I had a couple bids on the item. As I wasnâ€™t able to change/correct the description I made the decision to end the listing early and re-list the item with a corrected description. I was charged the full final value fee as a result.

I had read in a community post that eBay allows sellers to end listings under these circumstances once per year without penalty, but I donâ€™t know if that was an old policy or not. I donâ€™t see any straightforward to ask or appeal this. Can anybody advise?

It isnâ€™t as clearly stated as it used to be, but I believe they will refund the fee if you ask for the refund. It helps if you have relisted with the corrected description - this is proof that you did not cancel to take the sale off of eBay.

Thank you so much for the helpful information -- I contacted support over chat and they were able to reverse the fees as a one-time courtesy.
