eBay is CHARGING FEES ON FEES. Sellers SHOULD NOT have to PAY FEE Percentage on SHIPPING AND TAX. Is anyone else concerned about THIS??

Mentor3 years agoThe fee percentage is calculated based upon the entire amount the buyer pays.

When the fee did not include shipping in the calculation, sellers could (and did) avoid paying eBay fees by listing items for $1 and charging $99 shipping.
eBay decided on the exact fee percentage after deciding what amount the percentage is applied to. If eBay chose to use a different calculation -- leaving out sales tax, for instance -- the percentage would change so that the overall amount that eBay collected would not go down.
As a seller, you should be concerned with the total amount of the fee, and not the way that number is calculated, since it could be calculated in multiple possible ways to still arrive at the same number.
