How are the fees more than what the item sold for?
Ex: Item sold for $2. Fees are 2.18.
It would be cheaper to donate I suppose.

Final value fees are based on the item price + shipping paid by buyer + sales tax.
You should be building your fees into your selling price. If the item isn't worth more than $2.00, it would definitely be cheaper to donate.
