Feedback
Why does eBay always side with the buyer and not the seller? I was given an negative feed back because i cancelled an item that was out-of-stock. You can cancel an item if it's damaged and out-of-stock, eBay policy. I ask eBay to change the feedback rating and eBay refused to do so. It's pointless to try an call. They just ignore sellers.
I not happy about this at all.

You can cancel an item if it's damaged and out-of-stock, eBay policy.
eBay's policy is that you must complete the sale with your buyer and ship within your stated handling time. Sometimes, mistakes happen though. If an item is damaged or out of stock, eBay provides that option as one of the three reasons for canceling an order. That in no way means it's OK however.
When you cancel an order for being out of stock, it provides a negative experience for your buyer (which reflects on eBay as well as you). This is why you earn a defect on your selling record. Too many of those, and it can impact your ability to continue selling on eBay.
Falsifying the reason for a cancellation is also a reportable policy violation, so if you are out of stock or the item is damaged, you need to 'fess up and take the defect. Managing your available inventory is critical.

Ebay made a choice for siding with the buyer, almost always.
Ebay's fees would be much higher, if eBay had to investigate every issue between seller and buyer.
A negative feedback wasn't justified for a cancellation for being out of stock? Ebay thinks it is, eBay punishes the seller with a defect.
I'm sorry that I don't have better news.

When you cancel for the Out-of-stock reason your account gets a strike on it. It is not siding with one side or the other, we get the same said about eBay always siding with Sellers too.
When a Buyer makes a payment for something they are allowed to leave Feedback, that is eBay's policy. eBay has no control over whether a Seller ships the item or cancels the transaction.
Prior to cancelling did you take the time to do some Customer Service and reach out to your Customer and let them know that unfortunately, that item was out of stock and would they consider asking for a cancellation?
