I just sold a chainsaw on a 'Buy It Now' listing. Total sale price was $895. My payout was $685. What is eBay doing to me?

Thanks so much for your help. As I was first messaging, my payout number changed. Apparently, the sales tax was inadvertently charged against my payout. It was a quick fix, but something I'll have to keep an eye on in the future. I've been selling on eBay for twenty-five years now, and LOTS of things have changed. I know things can't stay the same, but some of the changes have not been welcome! Thanks again.

@ericsplace You're welcome.... yes eBay is ALWAYS changing. Much of it is to keep up changes in marketplaces and regulations.

That sounds frustrating.

Your "available funds" are a running total, so there may be other fees from other listings and sales intermingled. Each payout can cover multiple transactions.

If you click PayOut ID here, it will have a complete breakdown of that Payout:

From your gross sales (Price + Shipping, if any + Sales Tax) eBay will deduct

Sales Tax (remitted to the state)

Shipping labels

Final Value Fees FVF

Insertion fees (if any)

Promoted listing fees (if any)

Store Fees (if any)

etc.
