Fedex overcharging?? any Others having this happen?
27.4 lb item. (24 x"x17"x17")
Was Quoted $36.75.... by FedEx, via eBay Shipping/Printing Software, Actual Charges were $56.84.
On the offset and to an under-educated Commoner (a variation of) this kind of thing may appear as and be referred to as a Bait and Switch!
The Explanation would seem to be that They (FedEx), now 12 days, later claim that the item weight was 672 ozs (42lbs) instead of the 438oz(28lbs) that was the actual weight which I recorded.
Of Course, they do this through the eBay software and Their agreement with eBay so all in all they just help themselves to our account.
This is not the first time such an oddity has been noticed/questioned/partially investigated, but until now it has been overlooked, mostly because I haven't wanted to take the 2-3 hours to try to put in a Complaint or "Open a Case".
I have been a recreational Seller (400 - 500 Items) on this site for around 20yrs and DO double check weights ON TWO SCALES for Items over 10lbs or so AND (of course) this 27.4lb item was rounded up to 28lbs.
Goodness Gracious, at least don't tell me that You are going to charge me $36.75 just to become more attractive than the USPS and the UPS and Others, (some of which are Up Front Quoting in the low $40 Price range) and then two weeks, after the shipment, darn near DOUBLE the Billing.
By The Way, since when should a "door to door" Shipper get a "Residential Surcharge"($4.18) along with a "Fuel Surcharge ($6.92)." AND what exactly is a Misc1. Amt. ($3.45) all about?
Has Anyone Else noticed this as a problem/concern?
I FEEL VERY STRONGLY, THAT, MY SCALES ARE CORRECT.

PS; I DO like to be thorough.
I have contacted the Buyer and (The Buyer) will be re-weighing the actual Item and getting back to me with the weight it shows on Their Scale.
An apology will follow via this media, "if" my Buyer reports back with a 42lb weight (or even a 36lb weight, because the box and packing could have weighed 6lbs.)
