FEDEX OVERCHARGES
Has anyone else been charged extra by FedEx recently for a package that was correct to begin with?
I sent packages using FedEx and put in weight (17 lbs). Shipped FedEx, then got a charge through my eBay account for $9.45 each because the “billable weight†was 16.8 lbs.
I good luck getting through to eBay on this.

You can pretty much bank on their doing that every time. They've started using dimensional weight. What that means is that they don't rely solely on the actual weight of the package. They measure its dimensions, i.e., height, width, and depth. They multiply the dimensions and divide the product by a [I don't remember the exact term] conversion factor; ostensibly, this converts the size of the box to what boxes that size usually weigh. Then they charge whichever of the two methods results in the higher shipping charge.
Use google to search for dimensional weight and you'll find out more than you ever wanted to know about it.
