FEDEX COST ADJUSTMENT SCAM
Has anybody been able to resolve the FedEx Cost Adjustment Scam? You get incorrectly overcharged on a package's weight. You contact Ebay and they can't help. They send you to FedEx, who require a special ID number that Ebay does not give out. You are caught in a circle and basically screwed. Two companies in kahoots, stealing your hard earned money.

Mentor1 month agoIt is not a scam. It is mistake when you weigh and/or measure the package. It can also happen if you use the wrong package type or select the wrong package type.
If you are getting charges, you are doing something wrong in your packaging. Are you selecting large package type? Are you actually measuring the box instead of depending on the size printed on the box.
You are being charged a "penalty" weight for the billable weight. They are not saying it weighs that much, just that they have to charge you for not selecting the correct size or dimensions or box type.
You have to select the correct packaging as well. Fedex may be cheaper, but you also need to give them all the information about the package.
When shipping large packages with FedEx, consider the following size and handling criteria:
FedEx applies an Oversize Charge if your package exceeds 48 inches along its longest side, 30 inches along its second longest side, or 105 inches in length plus girth (length + 2 x height + 2 x width).
Packages with cubic volume over 17,280 cubic inches (10 cubic feet) or actual weight greater than 110 lbs also incur this charge.
A minimum billable weight of 90 lbs applies for packages incurring the Oversize Charge.
Irregular packages include those not fully encased in an outer shipping container or encased in non-corrugated materials like metal, wood, or plastic.
For more details on FedEx additional handling charges, see the FedEx service guide.

OP1 month agoUnfortunately, none of these issues are applicable to my situation. I tested out all possible variations on the Ebay shipping calculator and I was unable to come up with their shipping amount. Both Ebay and FedEx were absolutely NO help.

Mentor1 month agoUnfortunately both FedEx and UPS have surcharges for many things that are not accounted for in the shipping calculation by eBay since these are decided by the carriers after they receive the package and it goes through their system. eBay has no control over these extra charges.
