FEDEX $300 OVERCHARGE DISPUTE!!! CALLING ANY LAWYERS!!! HELP ME!
Summary: bud52 expressed frustration over a $300 charge by FedEx for shipping, despite having packages weighed at drop-off and being promised a refund by eBay within 3-5 days. After multiple calls without resolution, bud52 questioned the legitimacy of the charge and the process by which FedEx calculates costs, proposing a class action lawsuit. disneyshopper suggested considering package dimensions for freight charges, while rfmtm advised against using eBay's FedEx system due to its complications and recommended filing an appeal for the charges. monroe67 clarified that eBay does not engage in class action lawsuits as per the User Agreement. The discussion highlighted the complexities in disputing added shipping costs and the need for clear processes at drop-off.
So I shipped two halves of a clamshell $155 each one went through no problem. The packages were the same one FedEx up-charged $300. I called eBay they told me 3 -5 days I would have a refund. 4 subsequent calls to eBay still No REFUND.
Michelle of the leadership team told me FedEx was having delays if you have not been contacted call in two weeks. I had the packages weighed, by FedEx, at drop off and the packages weighed 100 pounds. How can this happen? How can I dispute after a month, the shipping materials are gone! This is WRONG, Fedex should measure and weigh all packages at drop-off and acceptance. To tell me $300 or something latter Is WRONG. Offer - Acceptance = Contract. To try and charge more after acceptance = FEDEX Can Charge anything! This must stop either FedEx MUST weigh & measure packages at station, and notify shipper or customer on the spot or NO UP-CHARGES!@!! I have been with eBay 28 years this has NEVER Happened! THIS IS WRONG!!! TIME FOR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!! Any lawyers out there?

Mentor1 month ago@bud52 Agents often say what a member wants to hear to get a good rating.
That sounds like a dimensional weight surcharge, shipping prices are charged based on the package size not just weight and distance to the buyer. You can try disputing the charged with Fed Ex
Only eBay customer service can file the dispute since they are the Fed Ex customer. I recommend contacting CS on social media to ask them to do this. Keep in mind that Fed Ex does sometimes add incorrect surcharges but there are CORRECT surcharges that you can read about on the Fed Ex website.
Personally if I have an item that is too large or heavy to ship via USPS then I use UPS and buy the label from Pirateship. Pirateship helps with insurance claims and surcharge disputes. UPS does have a list of valid surcharges on their website too. UPS does not add surcharges as often as Fed Ex does.
Social media is the best way to contact customer service for this issue.
Here's how to contact eBay general customer service. ( I feel that it's ok to use this option since it does affect your bottom line.)
Click this link> https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814
Then Type PAYOUT In the chat bot box on the lower right.
Then AGENT after the bot responds. You might have to repeat those steps.
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

Mentor1 month agoInstructions for filing an appeal for a FedEx back charge should be in the notice that you received. You might also find it by opening the shipping details or going to the FedEx.com website.

eBay does not participate in class action lawsuits.
Any lawyers who use eBay will probably also have already read through the section of eBay's User Agreement entitled Legal Disputes.
And they would tell you exactly the same thing.
Because the User Agreement says eBay will not participate in class actions.

Mentor1 month agoNever use ebay Fedex (or (UPS), as this puts ebay in the middle and makes it very hard to correct problems. Best to use your own account or a good third party like PirateShip. Also always get a drop off receipt showing weight and dimensions.
FedEx scan packages for weight and size sometime more than once along the way and errors do occur. You are going to have to hammer on FedEx and ebay to get this straightened out. If you haven't already you need to file a appeal for the back charges.
FedEx has been very prone to these types of problems and even though they can appear to have the lowest rate, one mess up and it just isn't worth using them again. I stopped years ago as these types of problems increased and switch to UPS through PirateShip. Better rates and rarely if ever a problem.

OP1 month agoThank you... How do you file an appeal vs calling customer support and speaking to the leadership team on four occasions?

Mentor1 month agoYou say each package weighed 100 pounds? The USPS charges more if a package weighs over 70 pounds. I do not know what the limit is for Fed Ex. What were the dimensions of the packages? There is a dimensional weight charge for packages exceeding 1728 cubic inches.

OP1 month agoThank you, The packages were within Measurements. This is a ,matter of FedEx Sezzzzz!!!!!~ WHERE is the CHECH DONE? OFFER ACCEPT - CONTRACT. This up-charge is BS and UN-DISPUTABLE!
