False/fraudulent item description
Summary: glentz purchased ink cartridges described as new but found them used and unable to function in their printer. They reached out to the seller, who denied the cartridges were used, and there was no further communication. comics-scifi-collectibles suggested trying a chargeback with the payment method since it's too late for an eBay refund.
Purchased a set of ink cartridges back in March, didn't actually need them until now. Item description said "3 Pack HP Ink Cartridges 920 Cyan Magenta Yellow. New Sealed" but when I opened the box the cartridges were clearly used. The cartridges were in a ziploc bag, labels were partially removed as though someone tried to refill them, sealing tape was not attached and the orange plastic seals were loose in the bag. Then I relooked at the box and noticed the box was very neatly taped shut on the opposite end of the one I opened. The seller only posted one picture and it was a head-on view of the box so you couldn't see the sides of the box. I did try installing the cartridges in my printer. The printer said they were used and they didn't work. The return period for this item ended awhile ago. While a refund would be nice, that's not my goal. I truly believe the seller falsely represented the item. I have reached out to the seller and will see if they respond. Is there anything else I can do?

You can try a chargeback with your payment method for an item that was significantly not as described.

OP3 weeks agoSeller responded. Denies they were used, claims they were "expired factory sealed" HP cartridges and would never sell "used cartridges". No further communication from seller. Clearly either the seller, MNJDEALS, is lying or they were duped. Even if I had been able to return them I feel I would have been denied because the box was now "open" and the cartridges inside were "used" as opposed to factory sealed. I see no way to report this directly to eBay since the 30 day return window passed.

·3 weeks agoYou’re too far out time wise to do anything through eBay. You could have left feedback for the seller within 60 days of the purchase.
What you can do is this:
Most credit card companies give you 180 days to open a chargeback. You can open this with them on the basis of it being not as described. Then, not only will they be forced to refund, but they will also get hit with a $20 fee for you having to bother the credit card company.
