False Reporting-VeRo Violation
I received a notification of VeRo violation due to a false report by the manufacturer of the product I have listed, claiming the item I am selling is counterfeit.
This is false and I have proof of that.
I submitted an appeal with evidence, spoke to a representative, reached out to the manufacturer, and now I am unable to make contact with a live eBay to discuss next steps.
I have not violated any policy. I am a victim of false reporting.
Why would eBay choose to honor a false report despite evidence to the contrary when this is clearly a disruption attempt by the manufacturer who is preventing their pre-owned product from being resold on the open market? Do the public not have the right sell items they rightfully own? Or make the decision to purchase preowned items, which may be the only opportunity they have of owning them?
I may have a misunderstanding of the laws surrounding this, or if by owning the platform. eBay has the authority to infringe on those rights.
Are the protections of Right of Disposition, or First Sale Doctrine applicable here?
If so, what recourse do I have to escalate this matter?

Mentor1 year agoIf the message you received stated VeRO (Verified Rights Owner) then the rights owner reported this to eBay and eBay is obligated to remove the listing. Unless the rights owner specifically contacts eBay and allows the listing there is nothing you can do about the violation nor can it be appealed. Please note that the rights owner is not necessarily the manufacturer of the item.

The violation reported was counterfeit, which was false.
This particular item isn’t art or digital content, etc. simply a pre-owned household item that I am reselling because I no longer need it.
The counterfeit report is a false one. One that I can prove verifiably.
