Fakes allowed??
Hi - I viewed a listing today for a sports card which was identified by the seller as a fake. I appreciate that he wasn’t trying to auction this card off as legitimate but still, why would eBay allow fake items to be listed and sold? Is there no policy that prohibits this? The person buying that sports card may not be as honest as the original seller and might try to resell it as authentic. For that reason, shouldn’t this practice be condemned and outlawed? I’m stunned that it’s not.

Just like the cops don’t catch every driver that’s speeding, with billions of listings ebay doesn’t always catch prohibited listings.

OP11 months agoThank you for your response. While I realize it’s a big job to police the entire site, and I accept that things are going to slip through the cracks occasionally, this seller called the item out as a fake right up front in the title of his listing. I’d expect EBay to have filters in place that recognize certain buzz words and flag those listings for further scrutiny. Just surprised to see this sort of thing taking place in plain sight. Quite disturbing.
