Fake USA Sellers Am I the *$$****
Getting irritated , Am I the *$$**** ? I have a small repair shop . I prefer to get parts from eBay. Im very careful in looking at the seller item and physical registered locations when I need something in a timely manner. More and more im running into fake locations , something will say its 100 miles away but then i get an international tracking number , I have no choice in a case like this but to go ahead and buy another from someone else because i have no clue when it will arrive. I not anti Asian goods by any means if i can wait 3 weeks to get something at a good price then i do. But there is something dirty about putting USA seller artwork all over a listing and saying its in New Jersey when its over seas. lying about port of origin is illegal in the non digital world. Can I start sending these items back as NOT AS DESCRIBED on the sellers dime for lying about where the item is located?

Probably the best way to deal with sellers that misrepresent item location is to avoid them. The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.
Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some registered US-sellers may employ overseas drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs.

OP10 months agoIm using the filter and have gone as far as to limit to within 500 miles of me . It is a fair point that someone who lives over seas "could" drop ship from within USA But im seeing quite the opposite . Where im getting irritated is doing the diligent of making sure they item says local and the user is local and still ending up with the item on the slow boat from overseas . Per your advice i can start looking at all feedback if i really need to make sure what i need is coming from where i need it to come from . but my real question is, IS this a violation of policy and can i refuse to keep an item without paying return shipping if an item says USA and then its "Actually" shipped from china

Mentor10 months agoDon't rely on the "Item location" filter -- check to see where the seller is registered on the seller's feedback page, and while you are there, read some comments to see if there are indications that the seller is misrepresenting the item location or drop-shipping, or if there are other warning signs.
If you want to be assured of a refund you must be prepared to return what you receive. The seller may not always require a return for a refund, but that is up to the seller, not you.
It is far better to avoid buying from sellers that are drop-shipping or violating policy if you can help it (and you can if you are observant), rather than counting on eBay to take action after the fact once you do have a problem.
