Fake ups tracking
On February 2, 2026, I purchased a Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L series IS USM lens through eBay for $724.10. The seller later provided a UPS tracking number that showed the package as “Delivered.†However, the package was not delivered to my address.
The UPS tracking information shows delivery to Hagerstown, MD, but the delivery location, name, and photo provided by UPS do not match my shipping address or residence. I did not receive the item. This appears to be a case of fraudulent or recycled tracking being used to falsely indicate delivery.
I have opened a case with eBay under their Money Back Guarantee program and provided documentation showing the delivery mismatch. The case is currently under review.
I am filing this complaint to report the seller’s conduct and the use of misleading shipping information. I believe this may be part of a broader pattern affecting other consumers.

This is volunteer help, not customer service.
That sounds VERY frustrating. Sorry that you are a victim of the false tracking scam.
Here's how to report the seller and information that may be helpful if you have to appeal the case. You have already completed some of the steps.
1) First, call the postal carrier to see if the tracking number label had your name and address on it.
a) If your name and correct address were on the label, ask the postal carrier to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the postal carrier if they will put this in writing. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps here:
2) Then, report the seller using this process
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake USPS tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Seller uploaded tracking not associated with my transaction
Tracking details were not accurate
Seller use a false tracking number
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on social media this way:
Just send a private message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
If the above steps do not result in a refund then you will have to pursue a chargeback with your funding source ( bank, credit card, etc) . Once you ask your funding source to step in eBay can no longer assist you.

Unfortunately, you have fallen prey to the False tracking number scam. If your claim fails and is a claim through eBay then you may have to do more work before filing a dispute with your funding source.
You need to get a document from the carrier stating that the package was not delivered to your address and then contact eBay with that information to prove delivery confirmation was to a different address than yours. Make sure you tell eBay it was a False tracking number scam.
We recently learned that many of the links we post to Request a call back are now simply forwarding members to eBay's Customer Service "How can we help you today?" page (link below). On that page members have to complete numerous choices before being given ways to be in direct contact with eBay. Depending on the subject, representative availability and other factors requesting a call back may or may not be possible. Chat or an email may be provided. If you get a Chat box Type “AGENT in the box. You can also contact eBay through Social Media if you have accounts there
-Contacting eBay via Social Media:
Contact customer service by sending a PRIVATE message on social media. Customer service verifies your identity before responding.

If for some reason eBay does not refund you then you will have to pursue a dispute with your card company or PayPal. Just know that if you do that eBay will not support you at all if you run into issues with the dispute.
