Fake international tracking used to delay ability to report fraudulent seller?
I purchased an open-box queen foam mattress from Sri Lanka, that I assumed would be a drop-ship from somewhere in the US. The “tracking†sent to eBay was for a registered letter from Hong Kong, which conveniently for the seller will not be updated until it reaches the USA. It is NOT for a sizeable parcel like a mattress. But since there IS tracking, I cannot do anything about it, and eBay runs me in circles and will not allow me to even speak to a real representative, and I am out my 64.50. “Seller†will not respond to messages, and removed all their items from eBay. I feel ripped off and cheated. Ebay must KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING. I AM NOT THE ONLY VICTIM!

Mentor2 years agoIf you can document the fact that the tracking is for a letter rather than a mattress, contact eBay via social media and let them know that this is a case of false tracking.

If the seller is inexperienced, it is conceivable that the seller is attempting to engage in drop-shipping, but that the seller has chosen to do business with a fake drop-shipment company that is actually scamming the seller. Which is another good reason to avoid doing business with sellers that appear to be in the drop-shipping business.

OP2 years agoYes- I have definitely learned my lesson. Thanks. I have the tracking saying the shipment is for a registered letter- I will attempt to get it to the correct place. Wish me luck.

Mentor2 years agoYou are very welcome. Those instructions to contact eBay via social media have worked for others in the same situation to get a refund -- good luck to you!
