Failed authentication by eBay for an item that was clearly not a counterfeit
Has anyone ever had this happen to you too?? My boyfriend had bought me two luxury designer hand bags that I had hand picked out from their own boutique shop while in New York together. They packaged both of them up and were paid for on the spot.
After returning home, I noticed that I preferred one of them significantly more than the other. And since they were similar, decided I’d sell the one I didn’t favor as much and never really took it out of the box except to remove the tags and see how it looked. Then was placed back in the box and never used again so I decided to just sell it here for significantly less then what we paid. (Almost $12,000 total with New York's taxes).
Fast forward to me listing it and it selling rather quickly because I priced it nearly 4k under its retail value. Simply because it was unused and still in perfect condition in the box, but I had removed the tag.
Even though my listing on eBay clearly stated that the item was “New without tags†and had its serial number still covered in plastic on the inside of the bag. eBay rejected my item as not being able to prove its authenticity!
I thought that the people that were supposed to be doing these high end authentication processes, would clearly be able to identify a REAL and rare exquisite designer handbag from one clearly not..
And if they couldn’t because they weren’t qualified to be able to do so. Why didn’t they do more diligence and check it with a boutique, that could easily verify its serial number, as well as run a specific unique scan that easily verifies it as authentic or not?
Confused now about the credibility and accuracy their authenticity guarantee actually is. As I also purchase high priced designer items off from eBay.
