Extremely Dissatisfied 24 year Ebayer here - Whats happened to Ebay??
I've been with Ebay since I ever knew there was an Ebay. Recently, I ordered a laptop and looked the next day to see the status, and couldnt find the auction. I looked for help but kept getting the "chat assistant" and no options applied to my situation. I tried multiple times to ask for a representative and it kept looping back to my auction / contact seller. I had already contacted the seller and asked if it would be shipped out the next day and they did not respond. After 20 minutes of trying, I finally was able to get to a live person that told me that the auction had been cancelled. There was never an email from Ebay stating they were ending the auction and PayPal had already pre-auth the money. Why did I have to dig for information about an auction that was ended by Ebay. It should of showed up on my status page. I was panicking because I have to have a laptop for work travel and now I am having to figure out what next. There is no way for me to contact seller because his name does not exist. I finally talked to Ebay persons at the help desk and was told they would try to get my money back. They did ... immediately (next day).

Soooo.. I ordered the same laptop (after so much research before buying) that was the only other like laptop from the auction that was cancelled. I purchased that laptop the same day, and the next day I noticed the seller had (0) feedback. I was immediately in a panic thinking here we go again. That next day, I messaged the seller and asked if he would ship it out that day, and no response. I reached out to chat again and was told they would look into it and not to worry, but to check back the next business day. I chatted again, the next business day (3 days since purchase) and stressed to the agent that I looked more into the auction history and it was last revised in May of 2023. This seller probably isnt even on Ebay anymore. I requested for them to reach out and ask them to please advise a tracking # or something other that "awaiting shipment". They told me that since I had contacted the seller and it had been 3 days, that if I waited until the next day and there was no update to reach back out. I talked to people on the phone and also through chat the next day. I requested them to check if the seller had actually even logged in or was active, and he stated they were still after about 30 minutes on hold, he was polite. He stated that although he was still showing active, that if I waited another day, thats the day that I should of received it and they didnt feel it was right for him to not provide tracking after 5 days either. He requested me to contact them again... the next business day. I paid over 100 for just the shipping of this item and not only has it not been shipped, there is still not shipment in progress showing on the auction page. I kept looking back at the auction to see if it had also been cancelled, but no. I told them on the phone I wanted to check on the status of my "case" because the 1st person I had talked with told me they had started one. This person informed me that the case would only be created this day, and we'd have to give me 3 more days to respond. This is Ludacris??? I need a laptop and my window is closing. So yes, I am freaking out. I read on the auction page that I have to wait until the 16th to request my money back. I have bought cars, motorcycles, several PC's over the years and never had issues like this. I used money that my mother left me when she died to pay for this laptop and I cant go out and buy another for my travel trip until this is refunded back.

There is something Ebay should have done to expedite this issue. I mean 5 days and no contact from the seller .... to me or them? Why wouldnt my money be "pre-authorized" like my previous auction and not pay the seller until there is a "confirmation of shipment" or "tracking information". This is how a buyer would be protected.

I'm so disappointed... reading that I have to wait until the 16th before I can request my money back???? I have used PayPal for probably 24years as well. They have always helped me. I reached out to them and asked if they could look into it and find out if I can get my money back "quicker". They documented it... and the next thing I know I look at the auction and Ebay has "closed my case" because I have contracted PayPal to find dispute my money. Thats terrible... I know it says that in the "bylaws" but they should have gave me that information after reaching out to them 5 times. Who is Ebay really taking care of here? The 24 year veteran or the person who is scamming folks. Now I go back to PayPal and they are stating I wont hear anything back from them until the 30th of April. I leave for my out of town trip next week... and have no laptop despite giving Ebay, my "trusted souce" the chance to purchase 1... yet 2!

It also says in Ebays policy that there can be exceptions and leniency depending on the case... and that a despute "can" cause Ebay to close the case.
I reached out to Ebay 1 more time last night and talked to an agent who basically told me I'm screwed and I lost the 30 day guarentee of purchase protection. I asked to speak to a "higher up" or manager and was told he would transfer me... I was on hold 1 hour and 33 minutes ... no one ever came back to the line, just the recording saying thank you for holding / or continue to hold, an agent will be right with you.
I am hoping someone from Ebay will read this and have a way to reach out to me since I cannot disclose personal information. All these years... even with the "Amazon Wave" ... I've been Ebay strong with over 700 feedbacks over 24 years... 100 % positive.... not 1 negative, not 1 neutral.
If this isnt a "special circumstance"... what is?
I am begging for Ebay to help me and refund my money so I can make a purchase ... or else my Dallas trip for work is a lost cause. Should Ebay just have "pre-auth" my PayPal since there was no tracking / shipping info? What can Ebay do to take care of a long term customer.
