Extra shipping insurance is automatically being added on items valued over $100 in ebay labels!
Summary: silver7auto warns sellers about eBay adding automatic extra insurance on items valued over $100 when using eBay labels, which results in additional charges despite existing $100 free insurance coverage. Other participants, stuff4divas and rfmtm, share their experiences, noting that they have not encountered the same automatic charges, with rfmtm also suggesting alternative insurance options.
Pay attention to your items you ship with ebay labels that are valued over $100, because ebay is automatically adding the extra insurance to items shipped that are valued over $100.
You can uncheck it at the bottom of the label purchase page if you don't want it.
I recently sold an item for $115 and I purchased the label quickly, not realizing the extra insurance was added on. You get $100 free insurance from all carriers. Ebay added the $3.60 charge for the additional $15?!? Ridiculous.
I had to cancel that label and print another. I didn't see any option to not make it automatically added.

Mentor3 weeks agoI have not seen this happen either, just the warning and the option to add it. Besides I'd never use ebay's Ship Cover or USPS insurance anyway when Ship Saver is a better choice.

Mentor3 weeks ago@silver7auto huh, weird, it did not do this to me with my over $100 sold items, as usual, it let me know insurance is only up to that $100, giving me the option to purchase more, but will be on the lookout, thnx

OP3 weeks agoThis was the third time this happened to me this week. Just wanted to give other sellers a heads up, in case it's not just me.
