Anyone buy something, pay for shipping and get a notice for an extra charge for shipping? I have got a bunch for .50 which is fine here and there, but I got one today for $8.09, which is BS since I paid for shipping. How can sellers get away with this and even have the heart to screw over people buying from them

eBay sellers can only "get away with" not adding enough postage when their buyers pay the postage due and take possession of the Thing.
Did you pay the $8.09 postage due?
If you have not paid that extra $8.09, you do not have to. You can refuse to pay any postage due and refuse delivery of the Thing. File a Item Not Received (INR) claim under eBay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) using the reason Postage Due (or words to that effect). eBay will refund you in full.
Moreover, if you refuse delivery, the USPS will return the Thing to the seller and he will have to pay the postage due.
If you did pay the additional $8.09, then the transaction is complete. You agreed to pay the (previously) insufficient postage. You could ask the seller to reimburse you for the extra postage that you paid, but he does not neeeeed to reimburse you. Not legally per any law and not according to any eBay policy.
All you can do, within eBay, on that transaction is post Feedback explaining, calmly, in polite language, that you paid an extra $X.XX in postage due. (Other buyers who read that Feedback might think, "Hmmmmm, risky seller. I don't think I'll take the chance of buying from him.")

For some newer eBay sellers, they may have made a mistake in estimating the package weight and size dimensions, and not corrected those details when the time came for them to actually purchase the shipping label.
Unfortunately, there are people in this world that do cheat and at least try to take advantage of other people.

OP3 weeks agoThank you. I sent an email to eBay, just waiting to hear from them. I have not picked up the item, will wait to hear from eBay. I contacted the seller and he said he just put the said item in the mail after the payment came through. I think you’re correct, they underestimate sizes and weights

Mentor3 weeks agoThere's one detail I realize I omitted in my previous response.
IF you refuse to pay the postage due, and file an Item Not Received (INR) claim with the reason Postage Due, eBay will refund you in full AND . . . .
eBay will place a Defect on that seller's record.
A few more Defects and that seller may have to pay higher fees to eBay.
Too many Defects and the seller will be suspended from selling on eBay.
That is how eBay stops sellers from trying to "get away with" sending items with too little postage. (Or at least tries to stop sellers from playing this stupid trick.)
Just wondering what you think eBay will tell you when you hear from them.
eBay cannot force any seller to double check the weight and size dimensions of packages they send out.
eBay cannot force that seller to reimburse you for any extra postage you choose to pay for delivery of the Thing.
eBay cannot and will not reimburse you for any extra postage you choose to pay for delivery of the Thing.
It also sounds like your seller isn't planning to reimburse you anything for "postage due" either.

OP3 weeks agoTo be brutally honest I don’t think they will do anything. I really was just asking this forum because I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problems. I just think it’s bad practice that people would do that to the buyers especially if we already paid the shipping.
