Everyone can sell the Inogen G5 bag, but eBay rejects my listing as a medical device - why?!
There are many, many Inogen One G5 bags for sale on eBay and many that have been sold. These are basically empty purses for carrying an oxygen concentrator. They are not medical devices, nor do they require a prescription. They are just empty bags! But when I try to list mine, I get this message: "This item is not permitted under the Medical Devices policy. Please do not relist.{e292406-1171583x}"
My listing is the same as everyone else's so why am I being singled out? I bought this item to sell on eBay and now I can't. But everyone else can sell these, and I'm really irritated about this. How can I get this product listed? Again, it's just an empty nylon bag, not a medical device!

OP4 months agoTo wrap this up, I did contact an eBay agent, who told me to try relisting without using the words "Inogen One G5 Carry Bag" in the listing. But that's silly, because that describes the bag. Also, there are scores (maybe hundreds) of current and sold listings using those exact same words in the title and description - https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=inogen+one+G5+bag&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1313
And those listings are in the same categories I tried using. And my photos showed an empty bag, nothing else.
But it's OK. Thanks for your help. I will give up surrender, throw in the towel, walk away from eBay and not look back.

Though this one sounds more promising:

You still haven't mentioned what your title was so I can't evaluate that and give an opinion.
Anyway, I was trying to help you troubleshoot this, but if you're leaving eBay over one item, I'll move on. Sorry this has been such a bad experience for you. Take care.

Without seeing the title of your listing, the item description, the category you listed in, the photos, or the item specifics, we can only guess why your item was pulled.
eBay doesn't "single out" sellers unless they are repeat offenders. Either the bots found something in the listing that was interpreted as a medical device or someone reported it and the program or human that reviewed the report found something.
You can try contacting eBay to review the violation with you.
You can use the contact option at the bottom right of this Help page to ask for a callback. Type "Agent" in the chatbox.

OP4 months agoI'm not a "repeat offender" as this has never happened to me before. And my listing used the exact same headline as a previously sold product, so, yes, I was singled out.

You misunderstood me. I didn't say YOU were a repeat offender, I was letting you know that eBay monitors repeat offenders. Those that aren't are not monitored. The bots catch what are programmed and/or interpreted as policy violations in their 24/7 scans of the over 2 billion listings on the site. Or the listing might have been reported by someone who thought it was a policy violation in which case it would be reviewed.
As I stated previously, without being able to see the listing, it's not really possible to know why yours was pulled, but something you added in the listing (in the item description, the category you listed in, the photos, or the item specifics), most likely inadvertently, triggered the action.
The possibilities are almost endless, but here are a few: photos showed the medical device in the bag, the wrong category was used, the title did not indicate that the item was a carry bag ONLY, etc.
As I suggested, you can try contacting eBay to appeal or find out what triggered the take down.

OP4 months agoFWIW, I read through the entire Medical Device policy at https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/medical-devices-equipment-policy?id=4322&st=3&pos=1&query=Medical%20devices%20and%20equipment%20policy&intent=medical%20devices&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1255 and I cannot find any information on why empty nylon that anyone can buy are banned for being prescription medical devices.
