Even though overseas seller is happy to sell to me ebay says no
I want to buy an item from a buyer in the states. The seller is happy for me to buy it but the UK is not listed as a country she “posts to†although on all her other listings it is. She has shipped to England before. She is as confused as I am. She isn’t aware she had put any restrictions on and has even tried updating the listing but it still isn’t allowing me to buy. It is a little Paddington bear soft toy, so not something that is prohibited.

That does make sense I suppose. Having conceded that, this is a vintage; not to be played with; toy for display purposes only.
Paddington is from 1978 so I imagine it is to do with the safety labels for children’s toys. I have no children nor have children coming to my home and he would be living in a display cabinet, never to be played with by a child, or indeed anyone. I do appreciate the importance of labelling etc, but I do despair of the “nanny state†we live in, where common sense plays no role any more!

Mentor2 years agoThere are apparently new laws in the UK governing certification of toys that can prevent items in many categories from being shipped to the UK unless certain conditions are met.
