Errant search results
For a while whenever I search for 'chiller nes' I get Super Mario Bros to show up in the results. Chiller is a game for the original Nintendo. The word chiller doesn't show up in any of the listings for Super Mario Bros in the results. Hard to find any listings for Chiller in the results when I search that, it's all Mario. Weird.

OP2 years agoThanks. Been noticing more weird search results lately, but this is the weirdest and it's been happening for a few weeks. What's interesting is that I haven't been getting notified of new results for chiller nes, the blue dot hasn't been showing up in my saved searches even though new Marios obviously show up every day.
You've been helpful thanks.

There have been many recent complaints about searches providing irrelevant results lately, though there are some indications that eBay has changed something, and searches that were not working on Friday seem to be working better once again, though the changes may not have propagated fully, yet.
If a search that has worked well previously suddenly starts behaving badly, often the problem has something to do with a faulty keyword substitution or an inappropriate automatic category navigation issue.
You can bypass many of these sorts of search issues by putting one of your keywords in quotes. This forces eBay to bypass the "smart" features and to search for the literal keywords without any substitution or category switching. You may have to manually specify your category once again.
