Entering Social Security Number???

Question

After I completed my first eBay sale this year I logged into my ebay account. I went to my seller portal to see how much I would clear and a large blue box appeared saying I need to enter my full social security number to get paid and to continue selling on ebay. But when I clicked on the link it took me to:

https://www.riskremedyweb.ebay.com

I have no problem giving eBay my Social Security number BUT ...

... is the web address above a legitimate web address associated with eBay???

I believe that is the company they use for that kind of information. However, you can also go to your account settings and under Personal you can enter you SSN there if you do not feel safe using the link. Since eBay is a payment processor they must collect your SSN and other identifying information to satisfy banking regulations and the IRS.

@ jacbarcollectibles Thank you so much for the quick reply. I went to Account Settings, Personal Information, and then clicked Edit, to access the field to enter my full social security number. Thanks again for your help, and this should set future Sellers minds at ease if they encounter the same problem described in my original message above.
